Anointing is not enough

Anointing is not enough

There are two sources of strength for every man (believer): The human spirit and the anointing by the Holy Spirit. Many people prefer anointing to human spirit because, it looks like a gift. But developing the human strength is just as important as receiving the anointing. We must learn to live without anointing, so that the anointing comes to crown our spiritual strength to do exploit for God. We do not need anointing to keep the word of God and hold fast to His Name; personal strength is rather, what we need (Rev. 3:8).

Anointing without personal strength is like putting new wine into an old bottle. The bottle breaks and the wine run out or leaks out of the bottle, wasting the wine (Mat 9:17, Mar 2:22). It is common to hear believers praying for God’s anointing on a regular basis, because, the receptacle (spiritual container), which receives the anointing have leakages (weaknesses) all over, hence, the regular need of anointing to cover the shame of weaknesses in our spiritual strength.

David was anointed once but the efficacy of the anointing stayed upon him till after so many years later he became the Kind of Israel. You will agree with me on a number of anointing services we have attended, but we always feels drained, because, we do not have excellent spirit within to sustain the anointing we received (1 Sam 16:11-13).

Great men and women do not fall because of their anointing. It is weakness of their human spirit that makes them do shameful things, which denigrates the Holy Name of God (Jer 7:30). Consider these two legends (icons): Joseph and Sampson. Both were anointed at relatively early days of their lives, but differences in their personal spiritual strength set them apart (Gen 37 – 39, Judges 13 -16). If everything depended on anointing, then nothing would have happened to Sampson. No way could Delilah and the Philistines have caused any harm to him.

Anointing without corresponding inner spiritual strength makes one (believer) appears “Big on the outside, but wimpy on the inside – big anointing, little spirit.  Anointing does not resist the devil and his temptations. You have to have something inside you to do that (1 John 4:4, Eph 6:10-18). There are many Men and Women of God, when they are under the influence of the anointing they are so sweet and inspiring. Woe unto you to encounter them when operating outside the anointing. The question you may attempt to ask yourself is: “Is this that we call a Man or Woman of God?”

Finally, Beloved, let’s strive to develop our human spirits to bring the Word of God to fruition in our lives. Amen.

God Bless You. See you next time…
